Here are the plans for N week:
word cards: nurse, night, neighborhood, newspaper, noise
poem:
Night
by Mary Ann Hoberman
The night is coming softly, slowly;
Look, it’s getting hard to see.
Through the window,
Throuch the door,
Pussyfooting
On the floor,
Dragging shadows,
Crawling,
Creeping,
Soon it will be time for sleeping.
Pull down the shades.
Turn on the light.
Let’s pretend it isn’t night.
Monday (social studies): nurse. What is a nurse? What does a nurse do? We know a few nurses--two aunts and a friend. Write them a note to say thanks for taking care of people who are sick or hurt.by Mary Ann Hoberman

Tuesday (math): numbers. We'll review counting to 20. And I want to work with him formally on how numbers after 11 look.
Wednesday (scriptures/Gospel): Noah. I have a book about Noah that we'll read and then we'll act out the story with our Little People Noah's ark.
Thursday (movement/music): noise. What different kinds of noises can we make? Loud, soft, different sounds with different instruments.
Friday (art project): noisey instruments. We'll make a "guitar" with rubber bands stretched over a box; it'll add a new noise to our musical instrument collection.
Other N words that might come up or spark ideas for activities: nickel, nursery rhymes, nutrition, nature, names.
A few books:
The Best Nest by P.D. Eastman
What Newt Could Do for Turtle by Johnathan London
The Napping House by Audrey and Don Wood
Too Much Noise by Ann McGovern
Noah's Ark by Linda Hayward

I have saved all of your lesson plans for me to use next year. You are amazing!! Thanks for doing all of that work and then for sharing it with me, and others. I've referred a bunch of friends to this blog and they are equally impressed. Thanks again for sharing your talents.
